Understanding Cpanel

After you have registered your own domain name and purchased a Hosting package to host and setup your website, your host provider will direct you to a panel from where you can access and control your hosting account. This panel is called the Control Panel, more popularly known as cPanel.

The cPanel is password protected and it is from this panel that you can perform all the tasks pertaining to your domain account like creating email accounts, sub-domains, MySQL databases, Error Pages, Redirect, etc. You can also install blogs like Wordpress or Content Management sites like Joomla or Drupal and also Forums and Shopping Carts. It is also from this panel that you control and protect your websites by performing backups and restore. Typically, you can access your cpanel through this URL format:  www.yourdomain.com/cpanel  .

For the new website owner looking at the cpanel for the first time, the experience can be daunting. And if you start trying to perform certain tasks all on your own, it can be frustrating for most people. Even for people with considerable experience with websites, performing certain tasks still remain a chore to be avoided.
